Faculty Council
Dear Health Sciences Colleagues,
I appreciate the opportunity to serve as the Chair of the Health Sciences Faculty
Council (HSFC) during the 2011-12 academic year. The HSFC and its
subcommittees provide a critical forum for our faculty to express concerns and
provide guidance to the UCSD Health Sciences and general campus
administration and staff. It is a vital part of our shared governance
responsibilities.
Opinions and input of the faculty of the UCSD School of Medicine and the
Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences are regularly sought
and appreciated. The upcoming year will pose significant challenges to the
Health Sciences faculty. The opening of the Sulpizio Cardiovascular Center and
the Clinical Translational Research Institute, as well the ground breaking of the
new Jacobs inpatient care tower, to name just a few, will significantly enhance
the missions of the Health Sciences faculty. The effects of budget restrictions
loom and will dominate many discussions this academic year. The HSFC seeks
your ideas and advice to turn these challenges into opportunities to make the
UCSD Health Sciences a stimulating place to work!!
Sincerely,
Douglas Conrad
Chair, Health Sciences Faculty Council
