Who We Are
UCSD Health Sciences is a $1 billion dollar plus organization encompassing 16 departments, 2 professional schools (School of Medicine and Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences), 2 hospitals, and various other programs and units.
What We Offer
The UCSD Health Sciences Student Apprenticeship Program offers internships to UCSD undergraduates preferably with upper division standing (more than 90 units completed). The program allows undergraduate students to explore career options, gain practical experience, make professional contacts and apply classroom learning to work settings. This invaluable opportunity will provide interns with transferable skills applicable to both a career at UCSD as well as other organizations. Most internships are on an unpaid, volunteer basis, but the option of completing an internship for academic credit is also available through the Academic Internship Program or your major department depending on the internship.
Applicants interested in obtaining academic credit for the internship should contact the Academic Internship Program or their major department for more information. Once selected for an internship, it is the intern's reponsibility to contact the appropriate office (AIP or major department) to setup the academic credit portion of the internship if eligible.

Internship Initiative (Open to UCSD Career Employees)
VC Health Sciences is offering internship opportunities in Human Resources and Academic Affairs through the UCSD Career Connection Internship Initiative. Internships are for 50% time for 6 months starting in January 2011. Internships are open to UCSD career staff who have completed their probationary period, have achieved a "met expectations" or "solid performance" or better on their most recent performance evaluation and have flexibility in their current schedule to accomodate part-time work in another UCSD department. Apply by November 24, 2010!

Want to help a Preuss School student obtain practical experience? Take on a Preuss School Intern in your department!
Interns are available on Mondays and Wednesdays from 1-2PM and Friday mornings from 8:30-9:45AM each quarter.
The internship is designed for Preuss Seniors to:
- Learn about a chosen field,
- Polish communications skills needed in the workplace,
- Become more knowledgeable about general work functions,
- Investigate organizational culture,
- Learn career-related skills.
